Erik enjoys skiing and hiking with his wife and three children. He is active with Redeemer Church, and is a mushroom hunter, beekeeper, map maker and amateur historian who spends the majority of his free time imagining ways to reshape the City of Rockford into an earthly paradise.

Erik Carlson is an experienced trial attorney who has successfully litigated dozens of jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations and mediations. He has represented hundreds of people who were injured in serious car accidents, dog bites, truck accidents, structure fires, and wrongful death claims. He has won millions of dollars in settlements and judgments for his clients. He has also represented businesses and individuals in a wide range of commercial disputes, including insurance coverage, eminent domain, qui tam, embezzlement, consumer fraud, dram shop, and contractual issues. Erik is also an entrepreneur, who has founded and launched cannabis and hemp companies. He has significant experience in business formation, charitable formation, and with drafting and negotiating complex contracts. Erik is also skilled in helping legislators and their staff in drafting and amending laws, and strategizing how to most effectively pass regulations and legislation that will have a positive impact on Illinois.
